A local client of mine who owns the red Ferrari 458 Italia I shot a few months back just recently picked up a brand new 2012 Ferrari FF and put me to work once again. This is Ferrari’s newest model and the first production car to offer standard four-wheel drive. The FF is a car that was highly criticized for its styling, but once you get some personal time with it the lines really grow on you, and you begin to notice more of the details that make it so special.
I was looking to end 2011 on a high note and scheduled a beautiful Audi R8 5.2 FSI for a quick shoot overlooking Sarasota Bay. This V10 model had just been fitted with a custom built ART exhaust and it sounded fantastic. A very special thanks goes out to my friend Cory for bringing it out.
It’s been a little while since I’ve updated this site. After dealing with massive computer failure, a move into a new apartment, all of the holidays, and the fantastic news that a baby is on the way, I kind of let my site get away from me.
I’ll update this post with content from the last few Cars & Coffee meets in Sarasota. As the founder of this event I’m glad to see it getting bigger and bigger, with the array or beautiful automobiles getting significantly larger. We’ve had some big time players come out as of late. Most notably a black Ferrari Enzo, an orange Saleen S7 Twin Turbo, and a pair of His and Hers Nissan GT-Rs, both highly modified.
I got word that our local Lamborghini dealership had the brand new Aventador LP700-4 on their floor so I woke up early and headed over to Lamborghini Sarasota to check it out. The replacement for the legendary Murciélago packs 700 horsepower that powers all four wheels. It’s sharper, faster, and more expensive than its predecessor, and better in every way. I held this mini-shoot exclusively for Teamspeed.com, one of my partner sites.
A massive rain storm all weekend long couldn’t entirely shut down the 2011 Festivals of Speed Orlando. Although the main concours show on Sunday was rescheduled to November 13th, the Friday night Jet Port Reception party went ahead as planned. Million dollar supercars, private jets, a silent auction, and Orlando’s finest restaurants were all featured inside a hangar at Galaxy Aviation. A few very special cars were also on hand for everyone to drool over. Lamborghini’s newest creation, the LP700-4 Aventador, was there with doors wide open, a rare Gemballa Mirage GT based off a Porsche Carrera GT, the ridiculously fast Hennessey Venom GT, Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull Formula 1 racer, and one of only two carbon fiber Koenigsegg CCX-R Special Editions in the world, which happens to be the very same one shown in the Fast Five motion picture, were all in attendance. The Ferrari Challenge Series hit Homestead-Miami Speedway for a full weekend of track time last month. After missing out on last year’s excitement there was no way I was going to miss out on this one too. So after departing Sarasota, Florida at 4:30am my girlfriend, Raelynn, and I arrived at The Collection in Miami for a catered breakfast with over 100 Ferraris. We joined in on a police escorted caravan to the race track where a parade lap warmed up the track. While shooting for Teamspeed.com we were treated to a VIP lunch up in the Champions Club overlooking Turn 1 while the Challenge Cars were practicing. A great day that I’m looking forward to again next year.
My computer suffered some catastrophic failure and was down for about a month so I’m combining the photos from Sarasota’s very own Cars & Coffee from September and October. With each and every month we’re seeing new faces and new wheels. It’s always nice to have more people join us be welcomed by the regulars. Following the October meet we went on a short cruise along beautiful Siesta Key in Sarasota, which happens to be the #1 rated beach in the United States for 2011. Just four cars joined us this time; a gorgeous red Ferrari 360 Spider, a loud and mean Ford GT, a sleek Audi R8 V10, and a genuine right-hand drive Nissan Skyline R33. Thanks to Jason, Andy, Chris and Cory, and Derek for coming along.
Ferrari of Tampa Bay held an open house by making S/S Motosports of Sarasota, Florida their dealership for the day and brought out quite a few tasty toys. Several of Sarasota‘s locals brought out their cars as well, and we all enjoyed great hospitality from both FoTB and S/S Motorsports and had a chance to welcome some of the new staff members. Pizza was served and test drivers were available too! I was on hand shooting for FoTB and as a friend of the owner of S/S. Thank you to Ferrari of Tampa Bay, S/S Motorsports, and everyone who made this a successful event.
There are very few automotive events in the state of Florida that do things quite as big as the Festivals of Speed. FOS Founder and President Joe Sabatini has been putting on weekend-long masterpieces from 2004 and currently runs 4 events per year in Florida. The events include Jet Port Reception parties in private airport hangars, golf tournaments, wine connoisseurs’ dinners, and a motorsports collection and luxury lifestyle display featuring some of the rarest and most expensive cars on the planet. I’ve been fortunate enough to attend these events in Miami, Orlando, and St. Petersburg, and I’ll be in attendance again at the 2011 Festivals of Speed Orlando from October 7-9 at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes Resort Hotel.
The July edition of Sarasota Cars & Coffee didn’t start off quite as planned as we woke up to rain, thunder, and lightning over 4th of July weekend. That didn’t stop the true enthusiasts from heading down to Suncoast Porsche and enjoying their Saturday morning. Our second meet wasn’t as large as our first meet, understandable considering the weather, but the array of cars was nothing short of amazing. Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s, a Ford GT, and a blown Shelby GT500 were a few of the notable attendees. It was also a nice treat to see a very rare Jaguar XJ220 in the service drive.
